Skoolie Zone
As many of you may know, I have lived in a converted school bus since January of 2022. It's been a wild ride so far. I've taken my bus across the US from east to west coast, up to Canada and down to the Mexican border, and pretty much everywhere in between. Everywhere I go there are interesting people and stunning varied landscapes.
My first bus, Dieselbeast, was a 2003 Ford e450 7.3L diesel from New York City. She had a tough life before I got her, serving slow stop-and-go routes in the heart of Brooklyn and the Bronx. That being said, she (unreliably) took us everywhere we needed to go for 4 years! In 2025, Fawn and I decided to retire our first bus and start over. Our new bus, which we've just been calling Dieselbeast 2, is a 2004 International 3800 t444e. We are currently in the final stages of a "soul transfer," essentially moving all the original build from the first bus to the new one. The new bus is similar in size to the first bus (25ft long), but in pretty much all other ways is more heavy duty and less rusty. Fear not, Dieselbeast 1 will live on, as she was purchased in Jan 2026 and is set to become a Northern New Jersey area ice cream truck!
Below I've compiled my data from 4 years of travel into infographics, so that you can know the logistics behind full-time life on the road! Infographics appear in chronological order, starting with the most recent.
